Aim & Scope of the Journal
The Journal of Applied and Action Research in Islamic Education (JAARIE) is a peer-reviewed scholarly publication dedicated to advancing knowledge and practice in Islamic education. The journal invites original research that bridges theoretical inquiry and practical application, with a particular focus on enhancing teaching, learning, and institutional quality within Islamic educational contexts.
JAARIE welcomes contributions across a broad spectrum of topics, including Action Research in Islamic Education, classroom practices, curriculum design, pedagogical strategies, assessment systems, and teacher–student interactions. The journal also emphasizes Applied Research, encouraging studies that integrate Islamic values into contemporary educational frameworks, employ technology-enhanced learning, or analyze educational policies. Comparative Studies examining Islamic education models across cultural contexts, and Educational Development research addressing institutional reform, teacher training, professional development, and leadership, are particularly encouraged. Furthermore, the journal highlights the Societal Impact of Islamic Education, including its role in fostering ethical leadership, community engagement, and moral and spiritual development.
Topics of special interest include quality assurance practices, mechanisms for sustaining educational excellence, innovative teaching and learning strategies, bridging policy and classroom practice, and lessons learned from successful initiatives. Methodological Focus
JAARIE accepts research employing diverse methodological approaches. Submissions may utilize Qualitative Research methods, including ethnographies, case studies, phenomenology, and grounded theory, or Quantitative Research, including surveys, experiments, statistical modeling, and meta-analyses. Mixed Methods studies that integrate qualitative and quantitative approaches are encouraged to provide comprehensive insights. The journal particularly supports Action Research conducted collaboratively with educators and institutions to address practical challenges. Additionally, Theoretical and Conceptual Studies that develop new frameworks or critically examine traditional Islamic educational principles are welcomed, ensuring a rigorous and holistic exploration of the field.
